Beaufort County Public Works - Solid Waste Division will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Beaufort County Community College, Building 8 Parking Lot located at 5337 US Hwy. 264 East, Washington.

  • Latex- and/or oil-based paints (15 gallons max.)
  • Batteries (Lead Acid, Alkaline, NiCad, Lithium)
  • Cleaners (Alkaline or Acid)
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Aerosols
  • Solvents
  • Mercury Thermostats
  • Fluorescent bulbs/tubes
  • Pesticides/Herbicides (Farmers welcome!)
  • Fuels
  • Propane Tanks (Grill and Camp size)
  • Medications
  • Ammunition
  • Commercial Waste
  • Explosives/Flares
  • Radioactive Materials (including Smoke Detectors)
  • Biological Waste
  • Motor Oil & Filters (accepted at County sites)

Rules & Regulations

  • Proof of Beaufort County residency (driver's license or utility bill) will be required.
  • Items must have the original label or be easily identifiable.
  • Participants must remain in the vehicles at all times unless instructed otherwise by event staff.  Staff will remove items from vehicles.
  • Contractors/businesses are not permitted to bring items for disposal.
  • The County and/or its contractor reserve the right to refuse waste based on type of material, material source, or because of excessive quantities.
